WHAT
WE BELIEVE
That Jesus Christ is the
One and only Son of the living God. We believe that
Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, lived a
sinless life, and died on the cross to pay the price
for our sins. He arose on the third day, ascended
into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father
and will return for His people someday. We acknowledge
and believe that the Bible is the complete and infallible
Word of God.
That marriage is a sacred union that represents
the marriage of the bride (the church) and the groom
(Christ) (Eph. 5:32.)
That it is the desire of God's heart to reconcile
all marriages, "that none should perish"
(2Cor. 5:18). That what God has joined together, let
no man separate. (Mark 10:6-9)
That God is able to restore a marriage through
the obedience of only one spouse, standing in the
gap, lifting up holy hands (Ezek. 22:30).
That adultery is grounds for forgiveness rather
than divorce (John 8:11).
That the main concern of the person who desires
to have their marriage restored must be that of reconciling
themselves to God and delighting themselves in the
Lord not in pursuing their spouse who has left (Rev.
2:4 and Ps. 37:4).
That this ministry was not formed to condemn those
who have chosen to reject reconciliation with their
husband or wife, nor to condemn those who remarry
or are remarried (John 3:17).
That it is our call to encourage, teach, cry with,
lift up, and minister to those women or men who have
been called to restore their marriage (Isa. 61:1-4).
That through a "rebellious spirit" toward
any authority, the marriage will not be restored.
On the other hand that an obedient spirit under all
authority will mean certain victory (Rom 13:1-5 and
1Sam. 15:22).
That the Lord has set up distinct boundaries of
wisdom and influence for our ministry. Therefore for
us to counsel outside of those boundaries will result
in error (Matt. 5:19). Those boundaries are:
The man or woman must be personally seeking the
Lord for their conviction concerning their marriage
(Prov. 8:17).
That the man or woman in need must seek us; we
will not contact any individual that another person
recommends us to call (James 5:14).
